MULTAN - Ali Haider Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday.
According to details, Ali Gilani was kidnapped by two unknown gunmen in a black Honda City when they accosted him in Multan while he was on the way to a rally. They opened fire at his car and five people were injured in the firing. His secretary was also killed in the firing.
Witnesses claimed that Gilani was injured in the kidnapping. Gilani is a candidate for candidate NA-148 contesting from Pakistan People's Party (PPP) seat.
His brother Ali Musa Gilani has said that elections would not be held in Multan because of the poor law and order situation in the country. He was visibly distraught at the kidnapping of his brother.
The police has now cordoned off the area.
